Toyota unveiled the concept SPORT GR HV Tokyo
Toyota enjoys the Tokyo Motor Show to unveil a new concept car sports, GR HV SPORTS concept. Does the model will replace the Toyota Cup 86 currently in production? the manufacturer does confirm but certainly the similarities are many and the concept is also based on the platform of the Toyota 86.
What we know for now is that the GR HV SPORTS concept has under the hood of a hybrid powertrain based on that which is found on board the Toyota TS050 Hybrid GAZOO, the car’s race manufacturer who participates in endurance championship. Was maintains a configuration has rear wheel drive as is the case of 86. The engine is a four cylinder horizontal and flat, opposed cylinders.
Sporting a matte black paint, the early concept images suggest flagship has LEDs that are similar to those equipping the Lexus LFA, the supercar manufacturer. We opted for a Targa roof that is not without reminding us that of the Toyota Supra. In general, we see the lines more angular than the current 86, but it all seems very successful.
On board one can see the start button flush with the shift lever knob and which was hidden under a red valve, a nice touch. Knowing that the car has an automatic transmission has six gears, one wonders why a grid can be seen in typical H with manual transmissions. Toyota has decided to offer a manual mode that we would control via the clutch lever, rather than by rudder seats behind the wheel. Quite innovative.
