The electric version of the Q2 L will make its debut in China as early as 2019.
Audi is preparing to launch an electric version of its small SUV Q2, which will be developed specifically for the chinese market. It will be based on the long version Q2 The model.
Arrival in China in 1988 with its sedan 100, Audi was the first premium brand to make its entry on the chinese market. It is as well as the firm to the rings today celebrates its 30 years of presence in the Middle kingdom, but also of collaboration with the local manufacturer FAW (First Automotive Works). Audi took advantage of the event to announce the upcoming arrival of an electric version of the Q2.
This electric version will be based on the longer version of the Q2 L, specific for the chinese market.
Based on the long version Q2 L, which is already distributed there, and designed specifically for the chinese customers, this variant zero-emission small SUV should never happen in Europe. Launched as early as 2019, it will be very soon supported by the large e-tron, which was presented at the Mondial de Paris. It will also be locally produced by 2020. No technical details regarding the new T2 L e-tron has not yet been released for the moment.
Currently, six Audi models are already produced in China : the A4 L, A6 L, Q3 and Q5 are assembled at the factory of Changchun in the north, whereas the A3 sedan, A3 Sportback and Q2 L out of the factory in Foshan in the south of the country. The objective of the German brand is to expand to more than ten models to its local supply by 2022.
