The new BMW M8 will make its entry in the course of the year 2018. It will develop 600 bhp as the M5.
BMW confirms production of next to its new flagship M8 and we disclosed the first technical specifications. It will develop 600 bhp and will be available in versions cabriolet and Gran Coupe.
Although the new M8 is still camouflaged, BMW gives us some information about that which will no doubt be the model the most powerful of its range. Thus, we learn that the M8 will develop 600 hp from the V8 4.4 twin-turbo, exactly like the sedan M5.
A power that could almost seem disappointing, as it was expected that the M8 exceeds that of the M5, just like the M850i exceeds the M550i (530 hp vs. 462 hp). This power is still superior to that of the old coupe M6 (560 hp) and should already be sufficient to provide good performance. All the more that the M8 could be a little lighter than the M6 and it has awd to spend all this cavalry on the ground.
The new M8 will be the version civilized of the M8 EWG competition.
BMW announces further a center of gravity at the bottom, a distribution of the masses ideal, as well as routes expanded, which should guarantee a behaviour on the road especially sports. Combined fuel consumption of the car is announced to 10.7 l/100 km, for
243 g/km of CO2.
While prototypes are still in phase of tests on the circuit of Estoril in Portugal, the launch of the M8 is announced for the current year 2019, while the variants convertible and Gran Coupe will follow. But it would seem that the coupe of the bavarian can also be carried out in Germany on the Nürburgring, as we can see thanks to the video made by Automotive Mike. The opportunity to be able to hear the sound of the V8 at full load…
