Auto News

Here are the Gladiator, the first pick-up Jeep since the demise of the Comanche in the early 90’s.

Shortly before its presentation at the salon of Los Angeles, the new pick-up, Jeep Gladiator has made a brief appearance on the media site of the brand. The opportunity to discover the style of this all-new model.

It is always amazing to see some of the brands affected by leaks, a priori unexpected, unveiling information that relate to new models. Today, it is the forum JeepGladiatorForum (the name has been changed on the occasion of this revelation ?) that presents us with pictures of the new pick-up Jeep, as well as some technical information. This information would have been leaked on the media site of the brand before being quickly removed.

A Wrangler with a dumpster

While rumors evoked still more recently the name of Scrambler, we learn that this new model will be named Gladiator. A name which had already been used in the years 60, on a pick-up derived from the Wagoneer. The Gladiator that we’re interested in today contain, for its part, the base of the Wrangler, just renewed.

According to the american classification, it is in the category of “midsize truck” and would thus be a competitor to the Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux. Its length should therefore be approximately 5 m long, when a Wrangler Unlimited is limited to 4,78 mr. Aesthetically, the Gladiator appears to be very close to the latter, which would have added a dumpster.

The Gladiator looks like a Wrangler Unlimited, which one would have added a dumpster.

Under the hood, one will find the choice of a V6 3.6 Pentastar petrol or a V6 3.0 diesel, associated with the a and the other to either a six-speed manual transmission, or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Remains to be seen whether this new pick-up will be distributed in France, at a time when the tax advantage previously enjoyed by these vehicles is about to be deleted.

The new Jeep Gladiator is expected to be officially unveiled in the days to come, for a world first at the salon in Los Angeles.
