The Porsche 911 GT2 RS becomes the road car the fastest on the Nürburgring. But it is not really series…
Three months after beating the Porsche 911 GT2 RS at the Nürburgring, the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is seen in turn defeated… by this same GT2 RS ! Slightly optimized by Manthey Racing, the German has improved his own time of 7 seconds.
The war of chronos knows no respite on the Nürburgring and all of the shots seem to be allowed to be able to delight the palm to his rival, even when the latter belongs to the same group. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ comes to learn it the hard way, because the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is back in the green hell and slammed a new time of 6 minutes 40 seconds and 3 tenths.
The 911 improves his own time of seven seconds and beats the Aventador more than four seconds. But of course, the German has received in the meantime a few changes, thanks to the team Manthey Racing, which belongs to 51% to Porsche. The ” kit performance “, from which it has benefited included changes to the chassis and aerodynamics… that Porsche did not want to describe it in detail.
Compil’ trials extreme : all of our testing at the Nürburgring !
Always registered, but most of the series…
The engine has not been changed, and Porsche says that, despite the addition of a bucket seat racing, the weight of the car remains the same. However, although the 911 GT2 RS ” MR ” is still homologated for road use, it may not really be qualified as a production car. Thus, we can doubt the real interest of this new record.
Porsche justified the operation by saying that the purpose was simply ” to evaluate the potential of the vehicle.” In addition, Lars Kern, pilot test house which carried out this second record (but the first), adds have made only one attempt because the night was falling. An elegant way to say that by insisting a little, a few more seconds could probably be grappillées…
But where are McLaren and Ferrari ?
Finally, it is interesting to see a car achieve a new performance, one can also experience a certain weariness to see always the same two brands, belonging to the same group, the sharing of such records. All the more that the authenticity can easily be questioned. When is a McLaren Senna or Ferrari 488 Pista to put a little mayhem in this hierarchy and claim a new record for the Ring ?
