Range Opel in 2020 : Adam and Karl stopped, Corsa and Mokka X confirmed

The amazing Opel Adam will finish his career at the end of the year 2019 and it will not be replaced.

In the coming years, the range Opel should be turned upside down and optimised, with in particular the discontinuation of some models, such as the small Adam and Karl. On the other hand, others will be well renewed, sharing their underside with their counterparts at PSA.

Since the buyout of Opel by 2017, the goal of PSA is to maximize the range of the German mark, notably in streamlining the production of its models. Added to this is the necessity today to reduce drastically CO2 emissions in order to meet the requirements set by the european Union. The countries of the Union come from elsewhere to come to an agreement this Tuesday, October 9, providing a 35% decrease of the average emissions of new cars by 2030.

It is thus that in the next few years, the range Opel is expected to undergo many changes, including a few disappearances of models. While the confidential cabriolet, the Cascada has already deserted the concessions on our market, the mini-citadines Adam and Karl will follow the same movement at the end of the year 2019. And these models will not be replaced.

 

New Corsa and Mokka X 2020

The mpv Zafira could also be threatened in the term, as the brand now seems to be focusing on the development of the SUV. Thus, the Mokka X is, for its part, renewed the current 2020 and will resume the technical basis of the new Peugeot 2008 (beginning of 2020). It will then benefit of an electric model, just like the new generation of the hatchback Corsa.

The latter will be presented in Frankfurt in September 2019 and will make its debut on the market at the start of 2020. To adopt, just like the new Peugeot 208, the platform CMP inaugurated recently by the DS3 Crossback. The electric version of this city car will be assembled on the site of the PSA to Zaragoza as soon as 2020.

Finally, the utility Vivaro will be replaced in 2019 and will be based on the Peugeot Expert and Citroën Jumpy. It will also an electric version by 2020.
